I hand lettered everything on the sidebar, made the bird, and hand lettered the contact page and illustrated the little symbols.

Niel Gaiman is doing a project with Blackberry called "A Calendar of Tales". This is a piece I did to go with his December Tale. My vector work in the past has all been pretty flat, so this piece was highly experimental. I used meshes and feathered edges, just to see what I could produce. This is what I accomplished--some bits of it I like, but there are others I don't like at all.

What with the New York trip and me having about this much experience with digital painting => (  ) (aka not much) and my laptop being almost out of battery....this is all I have so far. Still very rough.

I also have a really rough sketch/color comp of what I want to do for my next project--a cover for Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. The background will actually be a city scape on an angle, but I'm still figuring out the shapes/perspective for that.
