Stephanie Leonard - Project 6 Sketching

I've kind of been struggling with this picture, for some reason.  It's an illustration for Artemis Fowl, and the idea is that I want it to look kind of comic-bookish and digital (kind of like a mix between Nathan Fox and Cory Loftis).  What really keeps throwing me off is her pose, and especially her legs.  The perspective is hard for me, and it's hard to find reference for it.  I'm going to keep working at it, but if you have any advice, let me know.  It's still pretty rough, so I'll try to post something better later tonight that might be easier to critique

Stephanie Leonard - Assignment 3

This is some back-and-forth I did with a client trying to nail down what artistic style they wanted for a kid's scripture iPad app.  This was the first image I sent them when they wanted to see a simple children's illustration:

 They liked it, but were looking for something simpler, so I gave them these two images:

 

But they wanted something even simpler, sort of in the style that a child might draw.  So I spent about thirty minutes sketching out these:

And this was the style that they ended up liking.

I need to talk to you after class, because I must have gotten the due date messed up while I was in Florida and I thought this project was due on Wednesday.  I had planned on working on it all day today, so I don't have much done, but this is what I have:

I'm using a split-complementary color scheme with a simple background (the inside of a tent) framing the figure.  My plan is to finish the sketch and watercolor today and finish the digital adjustments tomorrow.
