Project 2 edits, Sarah Bowthorpe

I've made some edits to this--adding lines to the tortoise's shell and making the transitions between the rows smoother.

Stephanie Leonard - Project 2 Progress (UPDATED)

My scanner isn't working the way I want it to, so I'll have to finish this up tomorrow.  This is where it's at right now, though, and this should give you a pretty good idea of where it's headed:

Previous post:

I need to talk to you after class, because I must have gotten the due date messed up while I was in Florida and I thought this project was due on Wednesday.  I had planned on working on it all day today, so I don't have much done, but this is what I have:

I'm using a split-complementary color scheme with a simple background (the inside of a tent) framing the figure.  My plan is to finish the sketch and watercolor today and finish the digital adjustments tomorrow.

Trap, project #2, Kelsey Datwyler

Okay here is my final piece for the monster show, Trap. It's done with acrylic and I enjoyed doing it. I'm hoping to continue with this style and develop it more.

Sarah Bowthorpe Project 2

And here it is! I'm afraid I still ain't got nuthin' on Escher, but I definitely had alot of fun trying to emulate his work. I'm mostly happy with how this turned out but I'm open to tweaks, comments and suggestions appreciated.

Sarah Bowthorpe-edits/progress

I made some changes to my monster picture according to comments in the critique. I wasn't able to change it as much as I wanted before the monster show, but this is what I was able to do in the time I had:

My next project is pretty complicated but I've been making slow and steady progress. (Speaking of slow and steady...)

Here were my first few steps.... first, the original Escher image which I was inspired by. Next, I experimented with many different shapes and positions of a tortoise and a hare to find one that would work. I brought this sketch into the computer in order to regularize the shapes.

Next, I figured out what I wanted the "finished" tortoise and hare to look like, then I put those shapes together in the tile pattern I wanted in the final. Then I found what the central tile/tesselation would have to look like and put that together in the same shape.

Next, I'm going to have to figure out the transitions between all the shapes. I have a feeling that this is where the REAL headache will begin...

Colt Bowden SLCC poster mock ups

Ok, so for assignment 2 I ended up getting a call back from the Richter 7 guys to do the SLCC poster. Since I am partial alumni to SLCC (1 semester and some high school college credit there.. woot! )  It was a fun one. They had a very open range of what they could do, and we ended up going with a loose fun and zany look.  I haven't drawn eyeballs bulging out of a face in a verrrrrrrry long time... so it was gratifying to have fun with this one.

There still may be some different treatments to the background, I'm still waiting to hear back on the final say, but this is what we have so far >>
