Ok I tried what you suggested and changed some levels on photoshop. I darkened the whales, added more rim light, and lightened the water. Looking better? I think I like it. Sorry I won't be there for the critique wednesday! Please just add comments here.

Brooke, I think this contrast level is much better. You could push it more if you want, but I think it feels much better now,much more readable silhouettes on the whales. It feels fun and whimsical and a little mysterious and creepy at the same time. Nice job!
