Sheri Bronson-- Jabberwocky, #5

I know it's not much. Here's to unexpected events over weekends! This is a design for the Jabberwock from "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carol. It may be different in the morning. We'll see.

Colt Bowden Story book pitch

Last week I was asked to do some mock-ups for a sample of a possible collaboration children's book with a friend out in Hawaii. The book takes place on the shores of Hawaii, so I thought it would be a great project to get involved with, seeing as we would have to travel to Hawaii to do some research ;)

As for the text, though it is placed in there, I don't think it is exactly how I will want it to be in the end..

These are mostly just a pitch to show what I think the look could be for the book.

I scanned pencil drawings in as well as acrylic and oil washes and did all the coloring digitally.

I raised the saturation but for some reason it still looks a little desaturated when posted.

3x3 Student Show Deadline

I encourage all of you to enter your best work in the 3x3 Student Show!

The Show is open to all undergraduate and post-graduate students in all countries enrolled during the calendar year 2011. If you graduated during the year you are still eligible to enter this competition. Only non-paid projects are eligible in the student competition. Entry fees are very reasonable at $15 for single entries and $35 for a series (3-5 of a related subject).

Several of you have great series that you should enter, but I think all of you can cough up $15 to enter your best piece. There are cash prizes for the best pieces and I think many of the pieces you guys have created this year would stack up very well.

Stowaway Final... I think - Sheri

Sorry for the overload of posts, but here's what I think may be the final version of my illustration for the magazine. Suggestions are still welcome, though I think that I won't be able to change much of anything soon.

Stowaway

The article was about living vicariously and reading books about traveling if you can't in fact afford to travel.

Stowaway illustration-- Sheri

So, I guess I was completely wrong about which sketches they'd like. They picked the one I least expected, a picture to go along with a camping story about being lent a tent on a rainy night. The only suggestion I was given was to add silhouettes of the mother and daughter camping, but I want to make sure the surrounding is alright before doing such particular detail in dark paint on light paint. What do you think? Too much color on the two closest pine trees? Is the glow coming from the tent not warm enough, or too warm? I'm going to send it in tonight, so please don't be frugal with your comments. :)

3 eyed man, patron saint of spectacles

Sheridan-- Stowaway magazine

Stowaway asked me to send in some sketches to illustrate their "Tales of the Trip" section. I went out of town over the weekend and hadn't anticipated the lack of internet access, so all I have so far are the sketches I sent to be looked at and judged, though I did color the one of the girl with the sticky note on her forehead. So I'm just going to post the one or two that I'm guessing might be picked.

Mckinsey Lewis assignment 4

Stowaway Magazine

My article was on haunted sites in the USA. They gave me six sights that they highlighted in the article and had me illustrate something for each sight. They will be spot illustrations on a two page spread.
