Sarah Bowthorpe project 6

This piece still isn't quite what I had envisioned when I started, but I am running into the wall of experience/knowledge of the medium. For the last couple hours I've worked on it, I feel like anything I've done to it, I change it but it isn't appreciably better or worse...just painting in circles. So... this is what I was able to get photoshop to do for me... someday I'll get it to do what I want.

I'm no graphic designer, but I put some text on how I'm kinda imagining that it would look as a book cover...

Fortunately, Illustrator likes me much better than photoshop does. I edited the doe's head to look less llama-ish, and it actually did what I wanted! Hooray!

  1. I think given your relative inexperience with Photoshop, that things are progressing well. Things I always consider when analyzing issues are: Did I create the appropriate value/color/edge sharpness contrasts to focus the viewer where I want? If not, consider pumping color, creating a few sharper edges in the focal area and /or increasing value contrast around areas where you want the viewer to look. Also, if there are places where the eye gets stuck, you can reduce these contrasts or soften edges. It all comes with experience. Keep working!
